In the fall of 2007, Fran was diagnosed with breast cancer. On Valentine's Day, as her family waited anxiously, she underwent a mastectomy to remove the cancerous tumor. Since then, she has undergone vigorous chemotherapy treatments that will be followed by six weeks of radiation in her battle against this disease.

Expensive co-pays and the rising cost of living have depleted her savings and sent her into substantial debt. A benefit was held to help alleviate worrisome medical expenses and to allow her to focus on beating this terrible disease.
